The Great Lima Bean Mystery

Created for Computer Smarts teaching video for children. I designed the scene, laid out the shots (see storyboards in Design section), painted the backgrounds and airbrushed the top of the cels. Wayne Brejcha was the animator. Although this animation was filmed in color, the gray scale cel paint I chose and the background water colors give the piece it's distinctive film noir look.

Walking the Cow

This animation is the opening title sequence for an independent film called "Reconstruction". Although this animation is neither a showcase for my animation or my drawing ability, it is exclusively mine. The film's director wanted two things for the title sequence; first, to look as if a nine year old child drew it and second, to have recognizable 'old masters' paintings scattered throughout. Munch, Modigliani and Van Gogh's artistic styles worked well with the childlike drawings, and the naive nature of the drawing and animation work very well with the staccato musical score.

Vito and Vern Join the Army

Again, another piece created for Computer Smarts (there was a lot of animation in those 14 tapes). This time my assignment was to create an animation of, Vito and Vern, a pair of brothers who were immortalized in a Picasso-like portrait (Picasso didn't actually paint the portrait, he was busy). This piece was animated by Jeff Seirgey, with backgrounds by Brian Berley. My art direction on this was extensive, since it required me to push the animators, background artists and ink and painters to break typical animation rules to create the cubistic Picasso-esque style.
