About Me and This Site

"There exists a passion for comprehension, just as there exists a passion for music. That passion is rather common in children, but gets lost in most people later on."
-----Albert Einstein

I'm Ellis Batson, a recent graduate of the University of Louisville, in the Master of Arts in Teaching program. I am certified to teach Secondary Social Studies and Mathematics, and am just now starting a position teaching Mathematics at Central High School Magnet Career Academy, Louisville, KY. It is my own "passion for comprehension" that has led me to teaching.

My goal for this site is to provide not only links to many sites helpful to teachers and students of the Social Studies, but to help with using the Web in lesson planning. I also am trying to provide ideas and resources for integrating the Web into the lessons you are teaching. High School students are increasingly familiar with the Web, and we don't need to lag behind!! The Web can help, not only with information, but helping to give our lessons some of the "gee-whiz" and "so-what" they need.

Due to student teaching and graduate school responsibilities, I haven't been able to update things for some time. However, I've been using the Web for some lessons with the kids, and it's worked great! You can find some of these updates in the "Lessons" section; I'll try to continue to put in some of my lessons that have been successful.
