Social Studies on the Web

---A collection of Web Resources for teachers and students of Social Studies, links and ideas for lesson planning using the Web.

I'm Ellis Batson, a recent graduate of the University of Louisville, in the Master of Arts in Teaching program. I am prepared to teach Secondary Social Studies and Mathematics.

Useful technology should be just as much a part of the Social Studies classroom as in Math and Science. And since all the various Social Studies disciplines are all studies of people, what better place than the Web to start?

I'm trying to gather any and all resources on the Web to help Social Studies teachers and students. I want it to be a resource useable by many, in a useable format. This is an ongoing project. Any ideas you have are welcome. Please send links and/or ideas (including any dead links you find here) to:
ellisb@aye.net

Inside you will find links to some sites I've found useful in the following areas: American history, World history, Geography, Economics, Government and Political Science, Culture, and especially some things related to lesson planning using the Web.
You will also find some help for using the Web in lesson planning and integrating the Web into lessons.
I have set up this alternative page for friends with visual disabilities (for whom graphics and frames get in the way), but who use the Web as a powerful resource. You can link to all my resources from here, but if your browser supports frames, and you want to navigate easily through my site, click here for HOME
