-Falls of the Ohio State Park-

Falls of the Ohio fossil beds lie on the Ohio River, in Jeffersonville Indiana. Step back 350 million years and walk onto this 220-acre raised rock bed- the world's largest exposed Devonian fossil bed. This area was once the bottom of an inland sea. Here more than 600 fossil species can be seen and touched, 400 of which were described for the first time at the Falls of the Ohio. This National Wildlife Conservation Area is a favorite for 265 species of birds that feed in the shallow streams, marshes and potholes in the coral bed, as well as in the river. The interpretive center houses an interactive gallery, library, wildlife and river observation rooms, and a state-of-the-art theater presentation .
