Michelle Yeoh

Michelle Yeoh

Michelle Yeoh is a world-renowned actress who gained fame as the first major female star in Hong Kong action films. Born in Malaysia, she was crowned Miss Malaysia in 1983. Her initial interest in ballet was sidetracked after an injury, but she credits her early study of the art with influencing her grace during her onscreen fights. She became an actress in Hong Kong, learning martial arts from top stunt coordinators and gaining notice by doing her own stunts alongside the legendary Jackie Chan in the 1992 film Police Story 3, released in the United States as Supercop. She reprised the role of the touch Inspector Yang in that film's sequel, known variously as Police Story 3 Part 2, Project S, and Supercop 2.

In 1997 Yeoh starred alongside Pierce Brosnan in the James Bond movie Tomorrow Never Dies. She will appear with Chow Yun-Fat in the eagerly awaited Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, directed by Ang Lee.
