Spirited Away wins Best Animated Feature Oscar
w00t! The awesome Spirited Away came through on Oscar Night, snagging the statuette for Best Animated Feature. Here's the summary I just posted at Destroy All Monsters:
Congratulations to acclaimed animator Hayao Miysazaki and the Studio Ghibli crew, whose superb anime Spirited Away won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Sunday night.
The musical Chicago [one of the few Oscar contenders I've seent this year] took home the Best Picture Oscar; Roman Polanski was a surprise pick for Best Director. The Road to Perdition, a film based on the graphic novel by Max Allan Collins, won for Best Cinematography, while The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers surprised no one by picking up several Oscars in technical categories.
Speaking of honors, here's the result of the Internet Movie Database's poll for the worst of 2002.
