bruce lee anniversary
Yesterday marked the 30th anniversary of kung-fu film star Bruce Lee's death. I'm grateful to Musashi for taking note of the event at Destroy All Monsters; the local paper ran a feature article noting that the iconic martial arts legend is still popular around the world. Other news stories describe his widespread admiration among martial arts fans, describing tribute at the late star's grave, and a new exhibit devoted to him in his home town of Seattle. For a good take on what made his films special, see Teleport City's take on the superb Return of the Dragon.
Lee was also the subject of the decent biopic Dragon; while I don't know how accurately it portrayed Lee's life, it was fairly entertaining, and it gave me an opportunity to look at Lauren Holly a lot, so it's all good.
