Dear Friends:

It is time again for Bob’s annual Stickhorse Derby. The first race is Saturday April 28th at 2:00 PM. The Stickhorse Derby is ran at the "Bob Hedge Park" between French and Howard off 10^th Street in Jeffersonville.

It has been 5 years since the passing of Bob Hedge, my father and founder of this event. As the years go by it is harder and harder to get the enthusiasm and cooperation that Bob got from the community. Dad had the energy of 10 people and the contacts of hundreds. We are trying to keep this worthy fund raising event going, but without your assistance this could not be possible. Help US keep our promise to Dad. This is a very worthwhile event that hundreds of children have already experienced the fun and memories of running in a Bob’s Stickhorse Derby.

We need children ages 1 – 6, children sponsors, race sponsors and race judges. The price to sponsor a child is $30.00 and the price to sponsor a race is $50.00. We also need merchandise to auction off after the races. Help us help the Crusade for Children, Muscular Dystrophy Association and Clark County Shop with a Cop by raising money with this event. Make checks payable to Bob Hedge Memorial Foundation.

For those of you unfamiliar to the Stickhorse Derby it is a spin-off of the Kentucky Derby. Children, up to 6 years old, race against one another in a series of races while holding a wooden stickhorse between their legs, with the winners in each race ultimately facing off in the Derby at the end of the day. The winners receive trophies and each child gets to keep their stickhorse and an official Bob’s Stickhorse Derby T-shirt. There is wagering on each race with funny money that is purchased the day of the races. At the end of the races an auction is held and you can buy merchandise donated by area merchants with your winnings.
