Front Page News

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, it is the decision of the Kentuckiana Blues Society board of directors, to cancel the 2020 KBS Blues Challenge for band, solo/duo and youth representatives. As much as we feel it is part of our mission to support our local/regional musicians in the annual contest, the health risk to our blues musicians is just too great to attempt a competition. Currently, the Blues Foundation is still trying to plan a competition for January 19-23, 2021 in Memphis, TN.
More information can be found on their website at https://blues.org/international-blues-challenge/ .

If we receive submissions, we will select a local/regional release for the Best Self-Produced CD contest. CD's must have been released after November 1 of last year and the deadline for entry to the KBS is October 1. More information will be available sometime in the near future.

As restaurants, bars and music venues slowly begin to reopen in Louisville and southern Indiana,
we will do our best to keep you informed of locations offering live blues.

Please continue to follow all guidelines related to the pandemic.
That means you should wear a mask in public, practice social distancing,
stay home if you feel sick and wash your hands often for at least 20 seconds.

We traditionally list those places offering music within a 100 mile radius of Louisville.
If you are a local/regional blues musician and would like us to consider your event
for our weekly email and monthly newsletter calendars,
please email the information to gigs@kbsblues.org

Many artists continue to perform live on the internet. You may find information on their website or social media pages regarding when they will appear online. You can find a list of local/regional artists on our Bands page.

Together, we will make it through this challenge.

Please be sure to follow all guidelines established by the CDC during the pandemic.
It may save your life and the life of someone you love.
You can find information on their website at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html

Celebrating the Sounds
of Kentucky at
Frazier Museum

Celebrating the Sounds of Kentucky
Co-curated by Michael L. Jones
2nd Floor, Frazier History Museum

September 13, 2019 – Fall 2020

Kentucky is often credited for its role in the development of bluegrass; however, it has also produced seminal figures in nearly every significant movement in the history of American music — from ragtime to country, folk to blues, jazz to R&B, and classic rock to hip hop.

Sounds explores the rich — and mostly untold — tale of Kentucky music.

Check out the KBS Weekly Update that is emailed to subscribers. It will list this weeks events which includes local/regional blues radio and TV shows as well as any scheduled live shows.
